The cooperative model
in Emilia-Romagna
Social and economic development
In Emilia-Romagna, the cooperative model is very strong, with deep roots and a long history of success. It has always stood out for its strong commitment to providing economic opportunities and welfare services. Legacoop is committed to supporting welfare policies with the aim of producing positive outcomes for workers and the entire territory.
Better and more sustainable working conditions
We promote the socio-economic well-being of male and female workers and their families. Investing in welfare is reflected in a range of services, ranging from healthcare to professional training, from support for work-life balance to initiatives for social integration. These services not only improve people’s quality of life but also increase the productivity and attractiveness of cooperatives as workplaces. More satisfied and supported workers tend to be more productive and less inclined to change jobs. This reduces turnover and its associated costs. Better and more sustainable working conditions benefit the entire community. Legacoop is committed to supporting welfare policies with the aim of producing positive outcomes for workers and the entire territory.
A cohesive and resilient social context
An overall well-being that makes Emilia-Romagna the perfect example of how the cooperative model successfully interacts positively with and upon the territory, promoting inclusive and sustainable economic and social development. This approach has contributed to creating a cohesive and resilient social context, in addition to representing an economic success. The presence of cooperatives in the area has contributed to regional development, economic stabilization, thanks to an equitable distribution of the fruits of growth, and has allowed social challenges, such as integration and the aging population, to be addressed proactively.
Welfare in social cooperatives
Commitment to valorizing their role.
Guaranteed assistance and care, even during Covid.
Social cooperatives are divided into Type A, which handle the management of educational and socio-health services, and Type B, which carry out diverse activities (agricultural, industrial, commercial, or service) aimed at the labor integration of disadvantaged individuals. In Emilia-Romagna, through social cooperation alone, services are offered to approximately one million people, with a significant impact on the socio-care and health system. A prime example is the Covid pandemic: health workers, nursery school educators, and the staff of hundreds of nursing homes (RSA) always guaranteed their services even during the most critical and difficult phases. Despite this profoundly impacting the turnover of social cooperatives, we committed ourselves with determination to the application of a new labor contract, as well as the signing of new agreements that aim to valorize social work, recognize the preparation time necessary for certain services as working hours, and provide advance redundancy payments (cassa integrazione) for educators in educational services and nurseries.
Legacoop supports cooperatives with the objective of improving the working and contractual conditions of thousands of cooperative members.
