Prolific

Prolific (2018 – 2022) is the project for the exploitation of proteins and other bioactive molecules from waste from the agri-food industry, in particular the production of legumes, mushrooms and coffee.

The project is funded by the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU), a public-private partnership between the European Union and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), an organization involving enterprises (large enterprises, SME and networks), research institutions, universities and all the European stakeholders which act to support the development of bio-economy.

Il BBI JU invested, for the period 2014-2020, 3.7 billion of Euro in bio-based innovation: €975 million of European funds (Horizon 2020) and €2.7 billion of private investments.

With the coordination of FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, Prolific is carried out by a wide partnership of research institutions and companies involving – among the Italian partners – UniBO, University of Parma, Innovacoop, Illycaffe, The Experimental Station for the Food Preserving Industry (SSICA) and Femto Engineering.

This project received funding from the joint venture Bio-Based Industries within the framework of the Research and Innovation Programme of Horizon 2020 of the European Union.
