The co-operative movement was born in Europe, but it has developed rapidly in every country of the world. It has been able to provide answers to very different geographic, political, economic and social issues by focusing on people and their needs. The co-operative movement’s transnational nature is not limited to its global spread.
The voluntary participation, the independent government and the democratic management of the co-operative enterprise also fostered cooperation among cooperatives themselves, among regions, among countries and even among continents.
Legacoop Emilia-Romagna, as a representative association of the Italian region the most involved in cooperation, has developed over the years important collaborative projects, exchange and development on co-operative subjects in many parts of the world by transferring and acquiring experiences and valuable contacts.
