Workers Buy Out

The tool of workers buy out is a way out of company crisis and concrete resolution to the problem of the generational transfer of the business, which in Emilia-Romagna gave birth to new cooperatives and new employment.

 

The working buyout is a business mechanism that spread and showed an increasing trend especially after the economic crisis in 2009. In Emilia-Romagna it concerns 56 new enterprises of different sizes and almost 1200 jobs saved (over 10 new cooperatives per year starting from 2012). The workers buy out promotes and has contributed to the creation of “good work” practices by fully embracing cooperation principles in the various organizations where people are the main focus and resource.
